Junior campers have a taste of the outdoors as they live in the A-frames of Pioneer I and eat their meals in the Pioneer “dining hall.” Nature, Christian fellowship, and Bible study are combined to develop a feeling of community in the group. Leadership is shared in the planning of activities such as hiking, crafts, rafting, swimming and games throughout the week. The Pioneer I area is an outdoor camping experience. The A-frames have wooden roofs and floors and canvas end flaps. There are flush toilets and hot showers in the shower house, but there is no electricity available. This style of small group living in the woods is designed to build close relationship among campers as they
experience true fellowship and acceptance, high levels of concern, communication and trust – a real taste of Christian community. |
